Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day, united by a core belief: to serve. A Dynamic History of Service was Founded in 1917, Lions Clubs are world-renowned for their mission to combat blindness. However, their impact extends far beyond vision care. Members volunteer for a diverse range of community initiatives, including environmental conservation, hunger relief, and providing essential support for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Lions are deeply committed to supporting youth. Local community projects often benefit children and schools through scholarships, recreational programs, and mentoring. On an international scale, the organization fosters global citizenship through programs such as the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Exchange, and Lions Quest.
Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than US$700 million in grants to support humanitarian projects worldwide. Notably, LCIF was ranked the number one nongovernmental organization in a study by The Financial Times, highlighting its efficiency and global reach.
When natural disasters strike, Lions and their Foundation are among the first to respond. They provide immediate essentials—including food, water, clothing, and medical supplies—and remain committed to the long-term reconstruction of affected communities.
Guided by the motto "We Serve," Lions are part of a vast global service network. Whether through local grassroots efforts or international campaigns, they do whatever is necessary to strengthen and improve the communities they call home.
