Tucked away in Lanes Road, Alberton West, the Alberton West Recreation Reserve serves as a vital community hub managed by the Wellington Shire Council.

Positioned right on the tranquil fringe of the Alberton West State Forest, this rustic crown land reserve provides non-powered camping sites, fundamental shower and toilet amenities, and essential equestrian facilities like horse washes.

It functions as a popular staging ground for regional outdoor events—such as the Eastern Victoria Pleasure Harness Club's trail drives—and is highly favored by self-contained campers, horse riders, and dirt bike enthusiasts looking to explore the dense network of surrounding bush tracks.

Local groups such as football and netball clubs, along with cricket associations use the facilities. Various school groups are also known to utilise the grounds and even the local Campdraft and Southern Riders use this lovely spot.

The clubrooms are also used to service club meetings and functions.
